Aberdeen International Airport

Aberdeen international airport expansion

AN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WITH AN EXCITING £20 MILLION REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT.

For over 75 years, Aberdeen International Airport has played an integral role in the social and economic life of the North East of Scotland, providing vital business and leisure connections for the Aberdeen City Region.

The Global Energy Hub's airport flies to 50 destinations and is one of the best connected regional airports in the UK.

Aberdeen International Airport is currently investing in a comprehensive transformation of the passenger facilities, its biggest transition in 35 years. This three year project will deliver a 50% increase in the size of the terminal, including:

  • New immigration, domestic, and international arrivals facilities
  • Larger and enhanced security search area
  • Exciting new retail and catering layout in the departure lounge
  • New international and domestic baggage reclaim facilities
  • Two new first floor business lounges

July 2017 saw the completion of the first phase of its 3-year-long terminal transformation project with the opening of its new domestic arrivals facilities. The new domestic baggage reclaim belt is the final element of the airport’s new extension building to open to passengers and replaced the temporary reclaim facilities, in use since 2016, weeks ahead of schedule.

The next phase of the airport’s terminal transformation project, which is already underway, will bring an enlarged and improved security area as well as a new World Duty Free retail space for 2018. This secondary phase, once completed, will be followed by the third, and final, phase of the transformation project which will see the realigning of the airside-landside boundary, an improved departure lounge, and enhanced catering and retail facilities open to passengers for 2019.
