Aberdeenshire is recognised as an excellent place to cycle, whether this is recreational, commuting or sport cycling.

There are many opportunities to get involved and enjoy some of the best scenery on quiet roads and off-road tracks.

Peterhead
Peterhead is now recognised as a cycle town and this has led to many improvements to the cycling infrastructure being developed.

The Formartine & Buchan Way is the premier off road route available in this area and allows a safe and pleasant passage. However, there are a number of on road routes that will allow you to explore some of the beautiful countryside and coastal areas.

Cruden Bay to Hatton
This route starts and finishes in the coastal village of Cruden Bay and follows the coast for a number of miles before enjoying some of the inland countryside.

Newburgh Ellon Circular
A short cycle route that encompasses the best of the area with open countryside, towns and villages and the renowned Forvie Nature Reserve.
