The Energetica Corridor

broadband

Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire are benefiting from a national initiative to improve broadband services through increased deployment of fibre optic cable.

Over 50% of  premises in the Energetica Corridor now have access to fibre broadband and work will continue until 2017 to build out fibre to smaller settlements, clusters of premises and premises connected directly to telephone exchanges.

A Connection Voucher Scheme helps enable small and medium sized businesses to access high speed broadband services. Whilst the scheme is not technology specific, contributions towards the capital costs of bringing “fibre to the premises” from a street cabinet are eligible, and all postcodes within the Energetica Corridor are within the scope of the Voucher Scheme

The recently completed Enerfield development of commercial buildings was constructed with fibre to the premises, which will benefit businesses which occupy this site near Foveran.

Dyce and Bridge of Don industrial areas within the Energetica Corridor are due to receive gigabit speed symmetrical broadband infrastructure as City Fibre Holdings build their network in and around Aberdeen. Their first customers (in the city centre), were switched to their network in May 2015.
